Progress Update 10

I've changed my mind; There are going to be certain aspects of my ancillary task (review page) that I am going to be changing, the most noticeable perhaps is the fact that I will be going from a double page spread to a single page. There are a few reasons for this, the first being that the majority of reviews from Empire are only allocated a single page so it seems unlikely that a niche short film would be allocated a double page. Furthermore, I will be changing the 'In Cinema' banner to read 'At Home' due to the fact that most short films are not made for profit and our short film falls in this category so it seems fitting to have this instead. Due to the change in number of pages, there will be many changes in the layout of the review. I will go more into detail of this in a later post, the main thing to take away from this post is that it is vital for me to retain brand identity in my product and I must also conform to the conventions of Empire's product

Progress Update 9 - The Start of the Process

Image
During the half term break, my group and I were able to go to soar lane and begin the filming of our main production. We chose to go on Monday the 12th of March for a few reasons; firstly, it was one of the few days in the holiday that we were all available and we figured that because it is a Monday, our locations would not be really crowded. Furthermore, we looked at the weather forecast and decided that it was the most fitting weather of the holiday for the mood and tone of the film: Despite the forecast drizzle, we hardly saw more than a few drops at times this turned out to be perfect lighting with the use of a few filters on the camera lens and we were really happy with this. Each group member dedicated the weekend leading up to the 12th learning the script inside out to ensure maximum efficiency with the time that we had to spend there. We arrived at about 10:00am and got straight into filming. This was because we were not sure if we would be able to return again in th

This script was written by Morgan-Glover Evans and edited by myself and Jake Foulkes, with story suggestions made by each team member. The  script was completed based on previous work surrounding narrative ideas and the plot blocking graph.

Sound and Music Research

Image
Sound and music in film is a topic that I'm quite interested in. Its a really important part of the experience because the two senses that you use when consuming a film is your eyesight and hearing, so sound is essentially half of a film. This short documentary shows the skill and art of creating sound for moving images:    Morgan-Glover Evans has developed some further research into sound and music:

Storyboard - Final Version

Image
After reviewing the preliminary storyboard, my group and I have come up with our final storyboard for the short film. We have made a few vital changes and added in some more detail. I think that the storyboard really captures the mood of what we want to create in our final production.

Role Chart

Image
Below, is a chart displaying the roles that each one of our group members are responsible for. It clearly outlines each of our responsibilities and our roles are very beneficial to each one of us as they play on our strengths. Furthermore, we tried to evenly spread out the roles, but not every single role is displayed below, they are only generalised because of the sheer amount of different roles that need filling out.
