Online Tutorials

In this post, I will make a list of some different tutorials for the software program, Photoshop. I will list the necessary techniques that I will likely need in my main responsibility; the review page.

From this tutorial, I have learnt how to manipulate an image in such a way that I can lift the required aspect of one image from its background and insert it onto an entirely different background. This could be very useful because I will likely take an image from the film itself and put this onto the background of the magazine. This is also very conventional when it comes to film reviews.

This tutorial is much more of an optional and aesthetic technique but nevertheless an interesting one. I will certainly try to adapt this into the draft.

Aligning text is much more difficult than one might expect and due to the sheer amount of text that will be in this project and the need for their alignment, because of adjacent columns (in order to conform to the conventions of a magazine review) means that must know how to do this. I will practice this many times in different forms before completing my final piece in order to get the technique right.

Photo-shopping around hair is arguably the most frustrating task when it comes to image manipulation, however when you know how to do it correctly it can be very easy. I had to do this for my coursework last year and although I remember the majority of the process, it will be beneficial to remind myself of the process as I will more than likely need to know how to do it.

My next steps now are to take some of the things that I have learned from these tutorials and put them into practice with a mock up draft for the magazine review page.
