Evaluation Question 2

Evaluation Question Two: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks? Creating linking iconography, similar visual styles, and, overall, a recognisable brand identity, was a crucial goal for us while working during the planning and production stages. However, there were a few initial design goals we had approaching it: Let the identity naturally develop This was a key area for us. Making the foundation of what we wanted in terms of visual links was important, but I felt as though forcing the issue at the beginning of the production would restrict us in a few ways. This is why, initially, we decided to forego mapping out in extensive detail our projected brand identity, including the colours, themes, and layouts we wanted to use. This was because, at this point, we hadn't even fully formed the narrative for our short film. This aspect of our production would definitely determine the look and links of our ancillary tasks, and without it in p

Task Delegation

For the upcoming evaluation stage, I thought that delegating tasks to our four group members was the best way to ensure a most productive and efficient workflow. After speaking with members of the group, we decided on this structure: Question 1:  In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge form and conventions of real media products. To be completed by:  Morgan Glover-Evans Reason for delegation: I focused on conventions the most during the research and planning, and as such feel as though I can make the most detailed presentation on the subject. Planned method of presentation: Prezi Next. Question 2:  How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?  To be completed by:  All of Us Reason for delegation: I was more than happy to cover the gaps in the evaluation, especially because I felt as though I was the main source of guidance for our brand identity. ] Planned method of presentation: Blog Post Question 3:  What have you le

Progress Update 12

Now that the production stage of our coursework has been completed by each member, it is time to move onto the evaluation of the our products. The review page, completed by myself, poster completed by Jake and Short film completed primarily by Morgan but also by Jake and myself. Before we move onto the next stage of the coursework. I feel as though I need to clear something up. Morgan Glover-Evans has drastically overstated his role within our group. He has labelled most of the tasks with his own name which is perfectly fine concerning the tasks that he did complete. Despite labeling the text for the review page with his own name, he seems to be ignorant to the fact that I went through this text many times, proof reading it, editing it with my own words, removing sections that were not necessary and adding in others which were. I then spent hours taking the time to chose the font and re-write it out and fitting it into the correct position for the review page etc. Furthermore, I al

Progress Update 11

I believe that I am making very good progress in regards to my review page. Morgan and I were able to record the lines for the Foley sound injection yesterday and he plans on putting them in tomorrow or later on today, I am not entirely sure when but after it is done, we should be able to publish the short film. I have been continuously swapping and changing around different components of the review page over the past couple of days, to try and perfect my product as for me, the aim of the game is precision and realism. When creating a product that must meet the conventions of an existing products, its the close attention to detail that really counts. I still have a day left on my trial to complete the production of the review page and this is where I am currently up to: I really feel like I have achieved my goal of realism, I have shown this to many friends and family, who have all been impressed by it. It's still more than likely that I will change different comp

Review of the Short Film

‘The Waxwing Slain’ - Spacy, Microcosmic, and Avian By Oliver-Wain After only a day in cinema’s Spielberg’s new-age nostalgia epic Ready Player One has already turned over $25 million dollar worldwide in ticket sales. Tomb Raider has also made the big-box rounds with $215 million worldwide after only 14 days in circulation. As long as anyone can remember, Hollywood titans have dominated the industry. So, during a time of big releases, eclipses occur. Smaller Hollywood mid-budget films get stepped on. Indie films are trampled. Short films? Well, they might as well not even exist. Which is why there’s a funny kind of melancholic irony to The Waxwing Slain . The small indie-drama is a film by hidden filmmakers, about a small, vulnerable person ceasing to exist. I thought it fitting that it slipped in between such massive releases. Focusing on an inner-city Leicester student, the short captures a glimpse of how easy it is too loose small people in such a massive world. Se
